Another animated steam room chat which triggered laughter amongst the men’s group when a millennial, talking to his friend, stated that flowers just don’t cut it.

The day before Valentine’s day had created an unwanted dilemma in this young guy’s life and he was, believe it or not, rather anxious. Must have an over expectant girlfriend I thought, or perhaps he’s trying to stay ahead of the pack in trying to woo her.

He mentioned that his brother’s wedding was next with its own collection of expenses and he was struggling to balance his budget as his income would not outlast the month.

Decisions, decisions, we all have to make them – we can run yet we can’t hide. Better to make a decision than not to, as difficult as it may be.

What do you value – living from the inside out or living outside in?

Social media and the expectations of others will eat you alive unless you are aware of their influence, so that you consciously ‘filter’ according to your priorities, which are hopefully set upon a values-based foundation.

We all have emotions; life would be boring without them. The most important thing is to know what is most important, which can be difficult especially when emotions are aroused.

You may need a little time in recognising what the root cause is driving the emotion and understanding what holds true for you. After all you will have to live with both the decision and its consequences. Should your decision be rational you will feel relief on deciding, even if the outcome did not match your original intention.

Life is not a continuous process of one win followed by another. It’s a forging process, in the fire, from this we can learn to become better in our decision-making.

Perhaps our millennial friend’s best decision is getting to know that flowers can definitely cut it. If the small things don’t cut it now, he will pay the compromised price later.
